Requirements for a tourist visa in Australia with a sponsor

 

Introduction:

A visa is a permit that allows foreigners to enter or stay in a country for a specific period of time. There are different types of visas such as visitor visas (for tourism), student visas (for education) and business visas (for commerce). To obtain a tourist visa, you will need to submit an application along with your sponsor who must meet certain criteria.

Purpose

• Purpose: The purpose of your visit to Australia is a key factor in determining how long your visa will be valid. If your purpose is tourism, then it will only be for the period of time that you are here.

• Duration: The duration of your tourist visa is usually six months from the date it was granted but may range anywhere between one month and five years depending on the type of visa being applied for (i.e., Student, Working Holidaymaker).

• Travel restrictions: As with any other type of Australian visa such as visiting relatives or attending conferences overseas, there are restrictions placed on who can travel under this type of entry arrangement; namely those who hold valid student visas must stay within a 100km radius of their university campus at all times during school holidays; however if they go out into town during this period then there can be consequences such as losing their place at university if they don't return before exams begin again!

Nationality

You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia to apply for a tourist visa.

If you are an Australian citizen, you can apply for this visa if:

Character

The character requirement for a tourist visa is:

• No criminal convictions.

• No more than 12 months imprisonment.

• No more than 2 criminal convictions in the last 5 years. (If you have been convicted of two or more offences which were punishable by a prison term at any time during the last 10 years, you may also be considered to have a “serious criminal record”.)

The Australian Government has recently updated its policy on this matter and as a result, it no longer considers all prisoners to be serious offenders who can trigger these policies. However, if you have served a prison sentence within the last 10 years and/or you have been charged with an offence where there is an element of dishonesty involved (e.g., fraud) then this may still apply under their new rules!

Deceased estate and unwinding of a deceased estate

• If you have a deceased estate, the executor must be someone who is 18 years old or older.

• The executor cannot be bankrupt, insolvent or mentally incapable.

• He/she also cannot be in prison for committing any offence against the laws of Australia at the time of death.

Evidence of sponsorship and support for visitors' visa

The visa application requires evidence of sponsorship and support for the visitors' visas.

The sponsor must provide proof that the visitor is not a risk to Australia's security, including:

• Evidence of an approved sponsorship agreement between the sponsor and applicant (sponsorship letter)

• Proof of funds for the visitor’s stay in Australia (e.g., bank statements or cash deposits).

Sponsorship

• Sponsorship is the main requirement for a visitor visa. It’s an agreement between you and your sponsor that states that they will provide financial support for your stay in Australia.

• There are two types of sponsorship: individual and organisation. A sponsor could be an individual, or they could represent an organisation (such as a business). The type of sponsorship you choose will affect what information must be provided on your application form, as well as how much extra documentation may be required from them (for example tax returns).

• You should not apply for any other visas until you have received approval from DIMIA for your first visa application!

The sponsorship is issued by an Australian government department called Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

You can apply for an Australian residency visa with your sponsor on arrival in Australia if it has been arranged by him or her beforehand or alternatively, you can apply afterwards within 2 years from the date of completion of your studies but this time limit may vary depending on the country's laws.
